I guess it is time to familiarize myself where all those items are for the Best Snowman Ever Quest.
Coal-Ascalon City
Pipe-Droks Forge
Hat-Lions Arch
For Grenchie Wintersday
Termites-By the dock north of Lions arch-talk to fisherman
Gunk-southeast of Temple of Ages
there was one more..I guess I will have to wiki it..
Garlic-talk to Necro on the beach north of Nebo Terrace
Dirty Socks-DRAT! How could I forget the streaking NPC outside of Bergen hotsprings.
Now I am ready to stand in Lions arch..and spam these answers to the clueless or lazy over..and over...and over...and over....and over....and over....and over...
What?
It's better someone gives them the answer (and correct one too) to get them to stop.
Also, I wonder how soon we will find out which person won the Design a Hat contest. IIRC, it will be announced on the 19th.

Sweet, i was expecting some sort of new item, like a new transmogifier.
Still, i love the snowball arena and look forward to the new headpieces and quests.
Still hope for a surprise though

I'm seriously beginning to think this event "team" lacks any creativity. They've had an entire year and all they could come up with was 2 new quests?
Failure. Sorry to be a 'scrooge', but this is pretty disappointing considering other MMO's events are completely different every year, and they couldn't even add another town to the list. That's what made it feel different last year, was because we had Kamadan decorated too. :/

Nah, they're just the pve UW quests. You even quoted it Read above where it says the stuff for the snowball arena.

Yes, because I'm sure they have an entire team devoted to coming up with new events each year..

Uh, yes, they've said when they finished Factions they split up into 3 teams, two teams doing campaigns (nightfall and utopia, turned into GWEN) and then another team dedicated to in game events. I don't have a quote, but I'm sure someone will back me up on that one.
Not only that, but going by that same logic how do you know other MMOs do? How can they pull it off then?

Danax's Snowball Handbook
Great, Wintersday is my favourite event in Guild Wars. I dont like how they nerfed the wintersday item list by taking out peppermint candy canes, but didnt replace it with another item.
I expected the same stuff as last year, and 2 new quests.
There is 1 thing I am a bit hopeful for. SNowball matches without leavers. (Occurs most often on Grenth's side, Yellow snowball is harder to use as effectively as Avalanche)
Hopefully this year, the leecher system will help. Please, anyone reading this, be courteous and don't leave, or leech =/
Here are some personal tips for the snowball arena:
- Hidden Rock yourself before the match starts.
- Use yellow snow as a condition removal when you are avalanched.
- Use Snowball and Ice Fort at the same time if in dire need of health.
- Ping your health if you're going to die, and have a present. Announce it in team chat if you're a fast typer.
- Use the ";" key to pick up presents.
If you're a snowball strategist, play these professions. IMO, they work the best.
Elementalist - An extra snare is VERY useful, and if your on grenth's side, atleast you have 1 snare for emergency. This skill is the best IMO for stealing a present if no snares are available. Simply Snare them, Hidden Rock, Snowball, and tap ";" and the spacebar).
Warrior: - A Speed boost is great when carrying presents. Not much needed to say here.
Monk - Ice breaker can be helpful for keeping present carriers alive.
Ritualist - An extra stationary fighter can be very handy in fights, and can be set up to strike down weakened present carriers travelling to their base.
Necromancers - Not a favourite of mine, but a sacrifice could be helpful if a present carrier has very low health and is close to the NPC (combines well if the opponent is snared). Although, keep in mind you could be more useful to your team is you had a speed buff or snare.

Anet's still doing the "once every three hour" crap?
I love the snowball arena, but I really wish that the events would happen more often... I mean, there's 4 hats, so we have to be able to log on from 12 PM to Midnight... Or do they come every 2 hours?

Ah, you've found my three favorites. Of course, I'll be playing with my Ritualist.
But in the long run, I think Warriors and Elementalists have a lot more power in the arena than any other profession. Monks and Necromancers are much more supportlike than those other three, and of the other five, I'd have to say that the Dervish has the only other moderately useful profession skill.

Wintersday definitely holds its own magical charm in Guild Wars. Guess it just reminds me of when I first started playing... and is still the highlight for me every year. Glad to see it again!

Eles and warriors are hands down the best snowball fighters. Some excellent tips up there. Now if only I could somehow get only my teamates to read that post but NO ONE else, I could get another 20 win streak in snowball (very easy to do once you get a team of 4 competiant people).

Instead of hats I would love to get a tonic that could be applied to existing headgear to make them permanently look like the hat. I never wear any of the hats because I don't enjoy critical hits to the head.

I think the Hats should be collected by turning in specific rewards (Frozen Globs of Ectoplasm for Grenth, and something else of Dwayna?)
But, you can get mulitple hats in one sitting: Long on exactly on the hour in a low number district (1-10). Then, as soon as Headpiece is recieved, go to a higher level district (either odd or even depending on what you got previously). You might even have enough time to switch continents and get one there too!
